Celebratory Events in 2013

The festivities are over and 2013 is now here!  So what has the past 12 months shown me?  What has my recent research of the celebratory events market revealed?  Well, following an analysis of the 2013 'expected' trends for the event industry in addition to request received from clients, I have compiled below a small list of fads to look out for.

 Personalized Jelly Bean "Cupcake"

Unique Events

Clients are requesting more and more unique experiences that are specific to their distinct need and personality. They are no longer chasing the latest trend or celebrity inspiration. I have spent many a time going to different stores, haberdasheries and liaising with bespoke designers to ensure that my clients got exactly what they desired. Whether it was napkins with crystallised his & her engraved initials or branded crockery and props for corporate clients.

Social Media Interactivity

Social Media is forever improving and provides limitless opportunities for people to share their experience with friends/family/colleagues/clients both locally and globally. With the advent of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to name a few, pictures and videos can be uploaded in seconds and with Socialcam streamlined immediately. Clients are now asking how this can be incorporated into their event. Photobooths are being adapted to enable clients to keep up with this latest craze. This provides a fantastic opportunity for brands to be shared nationally and globally. The opportunities are endless.

On the Day Coordinators

We have been receiving more requests from clients to provide just the coordination of their function as oppose to managing their event in its entirety. Our clients determine what they want their day to like, source suppliers, come up with the design and then book us to make it happen. We then liaise with their suppliers (once finalised) and coordinate all elements. Where necessary we provide our clients with recommendations and additional services so that their experience can be enhanced. This has been experienced in both the corporate and private sector.

Personal Reality TV Show

Clients no longer just want their event captured on video – they want their very own reality show – a fly on the wall experience of their special day. They want a story to be told. Videographers are required to be more creative and to be mini TV producers with great vision.

Pop up Shop
How about having your favourite branded deli, cake shop, burger store or restaurant featured at your function? Well now you can, think Dunkin Donuts, Gourmet Burger or your favourite yogurt store with full branding, uniformed staff and set up similar to those located on the high street.

Glam Decor

Flowers, lighting, draping can now transform any event space to look spectacular. The need to find the perfect looking venue is no longer required as both the inside and external area can be altered dramatically. With the endless list of suppliers the only limitation is your vision!

2012 Wedding Show - Best and Worst

Our view on this years Wedding Show

This year my business partner and I decided to attend the 2012 UK Wedding Show held at the Excel Centre. Is it just me or is the exhibition getting smaller and smaller and the quality lesser and lesser? I understand that with the current economic climate the wedding industry is decreasing, and this was unquestionably reflected at the show.

On the day we was met by a sparse space with around 100 exhibitors.  Ok, ok, I understand that's its not about the quantity, but hey.  There were a mere 2 stalls showcasing bridal gowns and tiaras - or was it 3? If my memory serves me well; there was just one wedding cake designer, who must have been extremely grateful for the lack of competition.

My business partner had a delightful afternoon and experienced real belly laughs when she heard the wedding singers during the bridal catwalk, which I can only assume was another reflection of today's fiscal climate.

Despite this, there were a couple of gems such as the wonderful wedding boxes provided by Daisy May Collections and the beautiful floral display exhibited by Gillets Flowers.

However, all is not lost.  Hooray! We were most delighted with what we saw at the Battersea Wedding Show, held just a week later  The event more than sufficiently made up for everything that was missing and truly wowed brides and grooms-to-be. We were blown away by the contrast in quality of displays and services on offer. I'm sure you'll agree - check out the images below.

Loving the lime green and contrast in flower textures.  - So elegant

There is a wide range of beautiful furniture available to hire enabling you you to transform any venue space.

Being a florist and a lover of flowers it could be said that we are somewhat bias.
But what is there not to love? Stunningly beautiful.

Style and elegance - simply done!

Being Luxury Wedding and Event Planners we endeavour to provide out clients with the best, so it's paramount that we locate and source the best suppliers that the Industry has to offer.  We are constantly on the look out for tips, trends and inspiration so that we can stay one step ahead for our clients who desire all that luxury has to offer.

Check out our blog next week when we'll be talking about the fabulous suppliers we met at the beautiful 1 Lombard House.

Organising an African Wedding.

Organising an African Wedding.

African Weddings are usually very large. As the traditional Yoruba saying - a family is a town. Therefore you can expect a high number of guests to attend consisting of immediate family, extended family, friends and esteemed colleagues.

It is advisable when organising an African wedding to make provisions for additional seating, cutlery, crockery, food and drinks as it is viewed with much displeasure and disrespect if guests are turned away.

Similar to Asian Weddings it is necessary that a venue with a high capacity is booked!
